Mitosis can take place anywhere in the body.  Cells often divide to repair damaged tissues.  Hair and skin cells are fast growing cells which are highly active in cell mitosis.

Mitosis occurs in all tissues of the body. Places where it is happening very rapidly are skin, bone marrow, intestine, and hair follicles.
