A genotype is the set/combination of genes.

Say something had two genes for being short. The genes involved in it (call them "n") would be in the genotype. For example, if the genes were "nn", its genotpype would be "nn" for that trait.

The phenotype is the outward expressed of the genes. So, if the genotype cause this creature to be short, then its shortness would be its phenotype.

I actually just went through this in my biology class. Genotype relates to the genes and phenotype relates to the physical characteristics.

EXAMPLE: if you have say 4 naked mice they all have the same genotype. They are all the same speicies. however their phenotype may be different.

If you mix into the DNA of all 4 mice the glowing agent found in jellyfish and 3 of your mice glow and 1 does not then 3 of them have the same phenotype and 1 has a different phenotype. The non glowing mouse doesnt make the protein or enzyme that makes the others glow. Therefore his phenotype is different.

I hope this helps
