Watson and Crick are credited with the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA.  In reality they stole the idea from a fellow scientist name Rosalind Franklin.
She discovered the structure using a technique called x-ray crystallography. While she was out Watson snuck into her office and duplicated her results.  The model is still referred to as the Watson and Crick model.  Franklin is rarely credited with any part of the discovery.
