Transfer RNAs have 3 bases that interact with the 3-base codons on mRNA's. The three bases on a tRNA are called an "anticodon".

tRNA does not have codons. However, they do have 3 compl;ementary bases to the mRNA that is the anticodon. The mRNA has the codon. The tRNA has the complementary anticodon. This assures that the correct amino acid is brought to the ribosome during translation (protein synthesis)
