Evolutionary theory generally suggests that evolution is non-directional or at least that it is directed only by chance and circumstance/fitness.  If these theories hold true, how can any humans or any other species place themselves above these evolutionary laws? In other words, how can artificial selection exist within the widely accepted traditional theories of evolution?
