Extinction is a part of evolution. We only tend to care about extinction when it comes to exotic species.  Many species of insects are extinct and new ones evolve all the time.  The causes of extinction are many. Changes in environment, predator prey relationships, and artificial or human selection are just a few of the possible causes.
