There are both risks and ethical concerns. The first risk is the risk to human life.  Although we have made great strides in understanding the field of genetics, it is far more complex than our current understanding.  There is a very high risk of error and unintended consequences. I believe the other risk may come if we are successful in changing an individual’s characteristics through genetic modifications.  It seems that only a select few will be have access to these types of technologies as they are expensive.  There is a great risk that this will create a very real gap between the rich, who can now make their children smarter, faster, stronger etc. and the poor who cannot. This is just my opinion as to a few of the potential risks. There are no doubt many other risks and ethical concerns.
