How does diffusion, osmosis and other particle movement differ in plant and animal cells?

In animal cells, the semi-permeable membrane allows for different types of diffusion of particles. Channel proteins are also used to facilitate diffusion. How do these process work in plant cells? Is the cell wall also semi-permeable? Do cell walls also contain ion channels?

All plant cells have a normal lipid bilayer plasma membrane inside the cell wall. The cell wall is completely permeable to pretty much everything. As in animal cells, it is the plasma membrane of the plant cell that regulates movement of material into and out of the cell. The plant membrane contains the same kinds of proteins that are found in the animal cell membrane.
