Questions about Mitochondria?

Can someone give an explaination of mitochondrea and their function? Are they present in both plant and animal cells? eukaryotic or procaryoktic cells or both?

Mitochondria are cellular organelles, and the last thing I remember learning about them is that they're heavily involved in cellular respiration.

I believe prokaryotic cells lack mitochondria.

it has a smooth outer coat and an inner arranged in trubules or folds that forms plate like double membrane

The Mitochondria is an organalle responsibile for cellular resipration which provides cells with ATP to use as an energy source. Both plant and animal cells contain mitochondria.

All I know is that a mitochondria is an organelle I actually am in 6th grade we just learned about this and I am doing homework and I forgot what the function of mitochondria is.
