The main function of the blood is to carry oxygen and other nutrients throughout the body and feed the organs. Blood is pumped from the heart, into the lungs, and then into the extremities of the body through arteries. It then passes through capillaries, releasing nutrients, including oxygen into the tissues, and then returns to the heart through the veins.
